With the US Team down in Ryder Cup Games, I thought I could use an inspiring speech.In the face of overwhelming odds, Henry V are Crispin’s Day speech Shakespeare can be beat. There is no way you can listen to and not to raise your blood.

Here are matches singles Monday for 2010 Ryder Cup. Europe leads the US 9 1/2 to 6 1/2.Europe needs to win five of the 12 to resume all Copa. The case will be broadcast in the United States from 4 PM Eastern.

Steve Stricker v Lee Westwood
Stewart Cink v Rory McIlroy
Jim Furyk v Luke Donald
Dustin Johnson v Martin Kaymer
Matt Kuchar v Ian Poulter
Jeff Overton v Ross Fisher
Bubba Watson v Miguel Jimenez
Tiger Woods v Francesco Molinari
Rickie Fowler v Eduardo Molinari
Phil Mickelson v Peter Hanson
Zach Johnson v Padraig Harrington
Hunter Mahan v Graeme McDowell

I like the way these formed. I don’t see any that I would say are a given, one way or another. Phil Mickelson — wonder useless — has a pause in being compared with Peter Hanson, perhaps the weakest in the programming of Europe.

The new format created a bit of a change to TV times.

ESPN 2 PM-8
NBC 8 hours-2

Now everything will be live Set TIVO! I’m going to start watching in 6ish or so (it will let me sleep in an hour of my normal weekday schedule) and be caught the action live by 8 am exploding through commercials and dead spots in action.

The PGA of America:

Given the weather conditions today and 7 hours, 18 minutes of time lost, a new game plan was decided for the second and third sessions:

— The second session will be composed of six games foursome.

— The session 3 will be comprised between 2 fourball and foursome 4 games.

— This will be followed by 12 singles matches.

This means that there will still be a total of 28 points available, of which 8 will be decided by foursomes and 8 by fourballs, and it is expected that the game will be completed by Sunday afternoon as scheduled.

If necessary, the game will continue on Monday.

This new format will begin Saturday, probably after the conclusion of the first session.

The big problem here is that all players will be on the course, at the same time, without anyone sitting. That is pure, because it will test the depths of teams and it will test the ability of the masters, who have to make some changes on the fly, but I think that the new format gives an advantage to Europeans, who I think has a deeper team.

As it is on Friday night, with no match complete:

FRIDAY MORNING FOURBALLS
P. Mickelson/d. Johnson vs. l. Westwood/Kaymer m.
Europe 1 up to 12
S. Cink/m. Kuchar vs. r. McIlroy/McDowell g.
US 2 upwards through 11

S. Stricker/t. at vs. i. Poulter/r. Fisher
All 10 Square

B. Watson/j. Overton vs. l. Donald/Harrington p.
United States 1 up to 8

There are a lot of golf to be played in the morning, but I don’t think anyone analysts thought the United States would be up to the moment I’m creating my TiVo.

  Henry sportswriter Grantland Rice was that was at the Centre in the heart of the golden age of sports, heroically to write about the achievements of the new American Gods: Bobby Jones, Babe Ruth, Jack Dempsey, Bill Tilden and Red Grange.With language that sometimes approached poetry, he deliberately turned them into objects of worship of The famous Hero. Notre Dame backfield, he wrote:

Outlined against a sky blue-gray October that The Four Horsemen rode again.In dramatic lore, they are known as famine, pestilence, destruction and death.These are just aliases. their real names are: Stuhldreher, Miller, Crowley and Layden. they formed the crest of the cyclone South Bend before another Army combat team was swept the precipice in Polo fields this afternoon as 55000 viewers looked down on the confusing panorama spread out over the Green course below.

There is also this famous piece:

When the bookmark Great One comes to write your name
He brands – not that you won or lost-but how you played the game

And Bobby Jones, Rice said: “One can also try to describe the smoothness of the wind to paint a clear picture of your full swing”.

Rice was also a fair hand with poetry, and so I thought his play “The Answer” it may be appropriate as game day inspiration for football Ryder teams:

The answer
Grantland Rice

When the battle against themselves and break crowd forgets to twist,
When the Anvil chorus echoes with the essence of a jeer.
When the hot start your panoramic knocker in an agile,
With a hit for all their mistakes and a josh to your game.
There is a rapid response ready that will nail them on asa;
There is a short answer that will wipe away the sting;
There is an elastic come-back that will keep them, as it should,
Do good.

No matter where you end the confusion or the line,
There are those among the scum that will move you in any way;
But the input that is boring and delivering the material,
You can hear the yapping as he giggles until his fist.
The loafer doesn’t have not come-back and no response, the quitter
When the Anvil chorus echoes, as he will, from the sky;
But there is a rapid response ready that will put them in a skin,
Do good.
